Whistleblower Who Won $3 Million Lawsuit Against Planned Parenthood to Rally Southwest March for Life in El Paso

Mayra Rodriguez has been called “The Mexican Abby Johnson”, but in many ways, her story is even more alarming.

Mayra was a Planned Parenthood director in Arizona and, like Abby, was named one of their Employees of the Year. Because she was an undocumented immigrant at the time, however, she managed three of their facilities for a pay rate of one — but regardless, she was grateful to have what seemed like a good job helping women.

When she was promoted after 16 years, she began to see through “the deception of Planned Parenthood” and noticed too many inconsistencies and ethical concerns. She complained about the medical malpractice and atrocities she witnessed, including incomplete abortions, falsification of patient records, illegal conduct, unreported statutory rape, severe injuries by abortion, and high complication rates with a specific abortionist.

Planned Parenthood responded by falsely accusing her of having narcotics in her office and threatening to have her deported, hoping she would be intimidated into silence. Instead, Mayra sued them and won, with a predominantly pro-choice jury unanimously finding Planned Parenthood guilty, awarding Mayra $3 million in damages and clearing her name.

“Planned Parenthood publicly states they want to help and stand up for immigrants, that they care about these women, but it’s not true. They shamed me for my immigration status,” Mayra said. “But here we are, the jury heard the truth.”

In August 2021, Mayra spoke at a Democrats for Life event explaining how Planned Parenthood exploits immigration law and economic anxiety to encourage abortion in the Latino community, both in the United States and abroad, realizing that she had been hired specifically to “attract the undocumented immigrant community.”

Born in Mexico City, Mayra said, “The undocumented immigrant community knows nothing about Planned Parenthood, just like I didn’t.” She said she found the job because her friends told her “they care for women. … They don’t care if you don’t have papers, just come work.”

Mayra witnessed many undocumented immigrant women who worked in fields and raped by their foremen then taken to Planned Parenthood where they were given no choice but to abort their babies to cover up the crimes of the rapists.

She said Planned Parenthood “tells immigrants that they’re welcome there: ‘we won’t deport you, we won’t call ICE on you. But if you carry your baby and go to the hospital and you live, for example, in Arizona or Ohio or other states where they have very strict anti-undocumented people laws, you may get deported.'”

“So when you have that, what do women think?” she asked. “’Oh, I cannot have a child because I might get deported, and I could get separated from my other three kids.’ … As an immigrant, I can tell you it is the worst feeling ever to know that you may have to leave this country.”

Mayra is also raising awareness that Planned Parenthood is lobbying to legalize abortion internationally. “We are down to six Latin American countries that are still pro-life because the rest of them, they have managed to get inside and affiliate with organizations in those countries and finance them to promote abortion,” she said.

Mayra credits the faith of those praying on the sidewalk and Christ’s Divine Mercy for her return to her faith and for her new mission to make abortion unthinkable and expose the dangers of abortion and contraception which are marketed by Planned Parenthood for profit.

We were blessed to meet Mayra just a few weeks after her victory against Planned Parenthood and immediately invited her to El Paso. After our original plan was canceled in 2020, we are excited to finally be bringing her as our keynote speaker at the 2022 Southwest March for Life! This will be co-hosted by the Diocese of El Paso on Saturday, January 29 at Houston Park, 900 Montana Ave in El Paso.

While our budget is tighter than ever, we are committed to bring Mayra to El Paso to rally the Borderland and raise awareness about the truth of Planned Parenthood to help shut them down. You can help cover the cost of bringing Mayra and rallying our region by making a donation here. Also, be sure to order your own pro-life flag here by January 14 so that you’ll have it in time for the march!

I look forward to seeing you at the march on January 29, and I pray you have a blessed and safe New Year!
