Day 30: The Father’s Heart

Day 30- The Father's Heart

“The Pharisees and the teachers of the law muttered, ‘This man welcomes sinners and eats with them.'”( Luke 15:2)

“Then Jesus told them this parable: Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and looses one of them. Doesn’t he leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it?… Or suppose a woman has ten silver coins and looses one. Doesn’t she light a lamp, sweep the house and search carefully until she finds it?” O

“The Pharisees and the teachers of the law muttered, ‘This man welcomes sinners and eats with them.‘” (Luke 15:2)

“Then Jesus told them this parable: Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Doesn’t he leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it?… Or suppose a woman has ten silver coins and loses one. Doesn’t she light a lamp, sweep the house and search carefully until she finds it? Or does not a father, after losing his son, not patiently wait for his return and receive him again?” (Luke 15:3-24)

“This man welcomes sinners…”

In the pro-life movement, we must always have a heart like Jesus, who welcomes sinners and eats with them. In this case, we must have a welcoming heart for each and every single woman who’s had an abortion and a heavy heart for all the men who accompany these women.

In this parable of the lost sheep, coin, and son, we often focus on the lost thing. But you see, the heart is not the one who is lost but the one who lost something. It is the Shepherd, the Woman, and the Father who are in anguish and the ones working hard and taking time to find what they lost.

You see the patience of a father who longs for the day of his son’s return.

Have a heart like Jesus

So as you pray for these women and men who are lost and don’t completely understand the gravity of their decisions, carry the heart of Our Heavenly Father. He grieves for His children who have left home and have chosen to live a lifestyle that He never intended.

Let His love pour out through your prayers for these women and men and the unborn. Pray fervently, even after the 40 Days, for our brothers and sisters who God longs to have again and rejoice and take delight in.

Starting next week on Monday, October 25th through Sunday, October 31st, we will be having our 7-Day Jericho March. The last day of the march will mark Day 40 for this Fall 2021 Campaign. We will be meeting at Santa Teresa (5290 McNutt Rd) every day from 6pm-7pm. Each day is a different prayer intention with a Pastor or Priest leading. You are welcome to join each day. Hope to see you there.

Devotional for Day 30

Scripture:
Standing by the cross of Jesus were his mother and his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary of Magdala. When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple there whom he loved, he said to his mother, “ Woman, behold, your son.” Then he said to the disciple, “Behold, your mother.” And from that hour the disciple took her into his home. — John 19:25-27

Reflection:
What an example of love and dedication that Mary shows to us. She was there with her son, suffering with him to the end; loving him to the end. A sword has truly pierced her heart. Can you imagine a mother watching her son be tortured and killed, yet Mary bore it all as well?

Prayer:
A mother’s love, Lord Jesus, is like no other. Mary experienced the pain of holding her dead Son in her arms. So many mothers grieve after their abortions but are told that they should not. We ask that they be comforted, help them face the truth about abortion, and lead them to find forgiveness, hope, and healing. May we all live in the humble, obedient, and loving example of Mary, your beloved mother, from our conception to natural death. For you are Lord, forever and ever. Amen.
