Help Stop SB13: The Companion Bill of HB7

Updated March 14 at 7:00pm

There has been a Companion Bill to HB7 introduced through the Senate called the “Reproductive and Gender-Affirming Health Care Protection Act.” It has passed the first Senate Health & Public Affairs Committee and will be moving to the Senate Judiciary Committee, before moving to a vote by the full Senate. This is a NEW list to petition as of February 28.

TO: [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected]

SUBJECT: Vote NO on SB13

Members of the House Judiciary Committee,

I strongly oppose Senate Bill 13, which seeks to limit malpractice damages and provide safe harbor to criminal abortionists. This bill poses a significant threat to the health and well-being of women in our state, and I urge you to vote against it.

If passed, Senate Bill 13 will make it much more difficult for women to receive redress for harms committed by the abortion industry. This is unacceptable, as women deserve to have their voices heard and to be compensated for any harm that has been done to them. Limiting malpractice damages only serves to protect the abortion industry, rather than the women the bill wants to help.

Furthermore, the safe harbor provisions in the bill are deeply troubling. Criminal abortionists who have committed illegal acts in other states may now be incentivized to relocate to New Mexico, where they would be protected from prosecution. This is unacceptable, as it puts the health and safety of New Mexico women at risk.

Finally, Senate Bill 13 is a violation of free speech, as it limits public investigations and information about unsafe and unregulated practices within the abortion industry. This dilutes the quality of public accountability and makes it impossible to monitor an otherwise unregulated industry.

In light of these concerns, I urge you to vote against Senate Bill 13 and to stand up for the health and well-being of women in our state. Thank you for your attention to this important matter.

SUBJECT: Vote YES on HB 511 & 513

Dear Members of the House Health & Human Services Committee,

I am writing to urge your support for HB 511 and/or 513 which will provide much-needed regulations on abortion in order to protect women from the dangers of an unregulated and unlicensed industry. The lack of standards of care in the abortion industry is a serious concern that must be addressed.

The proposed legislation would establish simple and common sense regulations that ensure women receive safe and appropriate care when seeking an abortion. These regulations would not change a woman’s ability to receive abortion, but would at the very least help to safeguard her health and well-being.

It is time to take action to protect women from the dangers of an unregulated and unlicensed industry. I strongly urge you to support this bill, and to take steps to ensure its swift passage into law.

Thank you for your consideration.

Next sign the FOUR petitions below to stop the governor's $10 million abortion center!

The New Mexico legislative session started January 17, and the Governor of New Mexico is working to have the funding approved for her Executive Order of a $10 million state-funded abortion center in Las Cruces to target Texas women from El Paso and beyond for abortions on the dime of New Mexico taxpayers! This budget has to be approved by four committees, but YOU can help stop it by signing the four petitions below and then calling these committee members to tell them NOT to approve the budget for this facility!
